The fourth edition of the OMEXOM Summer School took place during the week of 17–21 August 2026. Nine students studying energy-related subjects at universities in Brno, Prague, Plzeň and Ústí nad Labem spent five days learning about the energy sector in practice and getting to know the Omexom brand in the Czech Republic. The programme offered not only specialist lectures and excursions to major energy facilities, but also the opportunity to meet industry experts and gain valuable insights into future career prospects.
From an introduction to the VINCI Energies Group to international projects
The summer school kicked off at the OMEXOM GA Energo headquarters in Plzeň. The students were introduced to the VINCI Energies Group, the OMEXOM brand and the individual companies operating in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The programme also included a presentation on international projects and an overview of career development opportunities within the company. Representatives from the OMEXOM Brand Team, specifically Geoffroy Deygas, Project Manager for Technical & Innovation, spoke about how the OMEXOM brand operates at an international level.
A visit to the training centre in Germany
On the second day, the students travelled to Korbußen in Germany, where they visited the OMEXOM Institute. Ronny Koehler, who also acted as their guide around the training centre for the whole day, explained to the students how the OMEXOM Institute network operates. It was here that the students were able to see for themselves the vital role played by professional training and the ongoing development of staff in the field of energy infrastructure.
Out into the field to a power line construction site
One of the highlights of the programme was Wednesday’s excursion to the construction site of a HV line in Kočín, in South Bohemia. Guided by experts in the field of HV lines, the students had the opportunity to see energy infrastructure projects being carried out in the field and to gain a more detailed understanding of the technical and organisational aspects of such projects.
Design and construction of the transmission system
Thursday’s programme took place in collaboration with OMEXOM ELEKTROTRANS. The students visited a mast near Dolní Měcholupy, near Prague, and subsequently attended a specialist lecture focusing on the design of HV lines and the structural design of steel masts. By linking the design and construction phases, they gained a comprehensive insight into the development and implementation of transmission lines.
Conclusion of the programme at the Přeštice substation
The final day was devoted to an excursion to the extra-high-voltage substation in Přeštice. The students were able to view the equipment that forms a key part of the transmission system and round off a week full of new insights with a discussion with industry experts.
Investing in the future of the energy sector
The OMEXOM Summer School has long provided a platform for students to meet experts from the energy sector. It enables participants to gain an insight into the workings of OMEXOM Group companies from various perspectives, ranging from the design and construction of power lines through the operation of energy facilities to international cooperation. For students, it represents a unique opportunity to put their knowledge to the test in practice and gain inspiration for their future career paths.
The fourth edition confirmed that linking the academic environment with real-world projects is one of the best ways to prepare a new generation of energy sector professionals.
