The transmission system in the Czech Republic is facing ever-increasing demands. Rising electricity consumption, changes in the energy sector and the need for secure and reliable energy supplies require the gradual strengthening of the backbone infrastructure. One of the projects responding to these challenges is the doubling of the V432/429 line in South Bohemia. The project will help increase the capacity of the transmission system and create the conditions for its further development.
OMEXOM GA Energo is implementing Section 1 as part of a consortium with EGEM. The project involves the reconstruction of the existing V432 line and the shared V432/473 line, which will be upgraded to a 2×400 kV V432/429 double circuit, as well as the modification and construction of part of the V473/873 line. In total, 44.7 kilometres of power line will be modernised and constructed within this section, and 135 masts will be erected. Construction work began in the spring of 2026 and is scheduled for completion in 2028.
A line construction project of this scale presents a challenging technical and organisational task. Every kilometre of power line requires careful preparation, coordination of project teams, earthworks, piling of masts, installation work and strict adherence to safety standards. It is precisely the ability to manage complex projects under challenging conditions that is one of the key prerequisites for the successful implementation of such construction projects.
However, the significance of the project goes beyond the construction of the new power line itself. The modernisation and expansion of the transmission infrastructure help to increase the resilience of the power system and prepare it for future demands. A stronger and higher- capacity grid is an important prerequisite for the reliable transmission of electricity across the country and for the further development of energy sources.
